On December 22nd, 2004,  we were advised by Quetico Park of changes in their reservation fee structure.  Effective on January 1, 2005, all Quetico Park reservations will be charged a camping fee deposit of CN$100  (about $82.50 in US money).  This is NOT an increase in canoe trip costs.  It is a deposit against the regular camping fees that are paid at the Ranger Station when the camping permit is issued.  If the trip is subsequently cancelled, a partial refund will be made.  The penalty that is withheld from the refund will vary from $10 to $50 depending on how long the reservation was held, and how close to the trip date it was actually cancelled.  It is important to cancel as soon as you are sure you can't make the dates which were reserved.

On December 22nd, 2005,  we were advised by Quetico Park along with the above changes in the Quetico Park Reservation fee structure, we were advised of an increase in camping fees for those parties entering the Park at the remote paddle-in Ranger Station of Prairie Portage. The adult fee was increased CN$2 per night in the park (now CN$20).  There was no increase on the youth rate (now CN$8) .   Parties flying-in to Lac La Croix are also subject to an increase (now CN$16/adult/night and CN$6/youth/night).

The camping fee changes are not included in our 2006 printed material
which was published in September of 2005.
