Secret Spots!
Canadian wilderness, few people, and great fishing
With the lightest use entry point permits for the BWCA &
Quetico being booked up so quickly, the last few years, we have been looking
for new alternatives. The real quest is finding areas that can provide a
high quality experience, and yet are still realistically accessible
considering the location's availability, and the time our clients have for
their trip. We've found two!
The
"wilderness" doesn't stop at the surveyed boundary of the Quetico Park. The
lakes and forest keep right on going. Because of this, there are several
lakes that are just like those in the Park, but have no entry quotas. They
don't connect with strings of other lakes, nor do they appear in travel
guides. Very few outfitters know anything about them. The result ... just
the kind of trip that's perfect for base-camp type of fishing.
Lying outside of the protected areas of
the Park, these lakes offer to a visitor the choice of using a small
outboard motor on a square stern canoe, or paddling a lightweight
traditional north country canoe. The primary fishing is for northern &
walleye, or for smallmouth bass, depending on the lake.
In addition, we've added another fly-in
Quetico Park trip location to our list of offerings. Like the trips above,
this area is best for one campsite fishing trips.
We offer these trips only on a completely
outfitted, fly-in/fly-out basis. The motorized trips start at $875 for
5-days on the water using our Silver package. For those paddling these lake
areas, prices start at $590 (Silver) and $670 (Gold) for a five day trip.
Normal discounts apply. Interested? Call us and ask for information about
the new fly-in trips. |
